Speed
Short, faster efforts with recovery between repetitions to build speed, turnover and confidence at pace.
Coached running on the Gold Coast for runners who want more from their training: a parkrun PB, a first 10K, Bridge to Brisbane, or the Gold Coast Marathon.
At Kraken Running, every session has a purpose.
You’ll train with structure, receive coaching that meets you at your level, and build the strength, fitness and confidence to perform when race day arrives.
Whether you’re chasing a new PB, stepping up in distance or simply becoming a stronger runner, you’ll be surrounded by a team that understands the work, shares the goal and celebrates the result.
Kraken Running is led by accredited running coach and Australian representative Leigh Miller.
At Kraken, drills aren’t filler before the “real” session. They’re part of the real work.
Leigh places a strong emphasis on movement drills because peak performance isn’t built on fitness alone. Coordination, control, rhythm, posture and efficiency all influence how effectively you can put that fitness into your running.
Watch Leigh move and you can see the difference: fluid, precise and controlled.
That same attention to movement is built into Kraken training, helping runners develop the mechanics and body awareness to run with greater efficiency, maintain form under fatigue and get more from every stride.
It’s a level of technical coaching that goes beyond simply prescribing kilometres and intervals.
And it comes from an athlete who has performed at the highest levels.

“Being part of Kraken, I’ve seen firsthand how much care, knowledge and energy Leigh brings to every runner she works with.
What stands out most is that this isn’t just a running group where people turn up, do a session and go home. There’s real coaching behind it. Leigh pays attention to how people move, how they’re progressing and what they’re trying to achieve, whether that’s running their first 10K, improving a PB or competing at a serious level.
The atmosphere is just as important. People are encouraged, supported and made to feel like they belong from the moment they arrive.
Kraken has managed to create something rare: a genuinely welcoming running community with the standards, structure and technical coaching of a high-performance environment.
If you want to become a better runner, enjoy your training more and be surrounded by people who want to see you succeed, Kraken is an incredible place to do it.”
“An amazing club for all levels! In just 3 months I knocked 3 minutes off my parkrun time and I’m now preparing for my first half marathon thanks to the training program. Leigh will meet you at whatever your ability and do what works for you. The Kraken community is honestly the best.”
“I started running with Kraken a couple of months ago. Leigh is an amazing coach, being an elite athlete herself, she really does know her stuff.
The diligence she puts into warm up and cool downs sessions is fantastic, very rare in running clubs.
I am carrying an injury so Leigh shaped my sessions individually to ensure I could still keep the legs turning over without worsening the issue.
I can’t recommend Kraken enough, whether you’re a new starter or a seasoned runner, Leigh ensures everyone is included. Get out there with this group runners, couldn’t meet a nicer bunch, and your form will improve.”
“I can’t recommend Kraken Speed Running enough. I started as a guy who did parkruns that thought he knew how to run. My speed has improved, my times have improved, I have learned so much. Leigh is such a good coach and always keeps it fun and interesting while pushing us. The crew that train have become mates and we always encourage one another. Come and join us for a lesson or two. Let’s have a race.”
“I’m absolutely loving Kraken Speed Running! 🏃♂️🔥
This has been such a fun and motivating way to get fitter while enjoying something social. Even on the days I need to slow down or walk, it’s completely encouraged to go at my own pace. No pressure, just progress. I’ve already noticed I’m getting faster and stronger, and I’m even losing a bit of belly fat along the way!
The coach is genuinely lovely. Always supportive, uplifting, and makes everyone feel welcome no matter their level. It’s such a great mix of exercise and community, and the vibe makes me want to keep showing up. Plus, it’s really affordable, which makes it even better.
If you’re looking for something fun, encouraging, and effective, I seriously can’t recommend Kraken Speed Running enough. I love it!”
“I started training with Kraken Speed Running just over a month ago.
With guidance and support from Leigh and the other runners in the group, I have gained confidence, technique and speed, with new PB’s and a new love for running.
I genuinely look forward to training days now.”
